not animation but accomodation

I know this post is not exactly about animation, but since my last trip to New York was great, I really wanted to share this amazing accomodation I found in Harlem. http://www.710guestsuites.com/

710 Guest Suites in Harlem New York are are owned and operated by a designer and it shows!

Modernist furniture with antique touches set against gleaming ebony floors. Cozy upholstered surroundings with dramatic photography and sparkling accessory touches nestled against warm woods. my experience was special and memorable during my vacation at 710 Saint Nicholas Avenue.

A Unicorn in the Garden

A unicorn in the garden
by James Thurber, directed by William Hurtz, produced by Stephen Boustow with music by David Raskinis is a classic animation from the fifthies, with a beautiful music and a simple story line reflecting a bit of sexism and the humor of the time.

Bruce Bickford's and Frank Zappa - Inca roads

I know this is not exactly "the latest". News and blogs are always in search of the latest fad.

But in fact the very idea that a claymation video of the seventies it is still popping up on news websites and talked about by bloggers , musicians, and claymation fanatics alike, is a good measure of the real qualities of the music and the animation of this video.

I'm talking about Frank Zappa's, Inca Roads.
Mothers of Invention at their best with George Duke, Tom Fowler, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Chester Thompson and the Ruth Underwood on vibes showing her belly button.

Inca Roads was recoded live in 1974 at L.A. TV station KCET, and includes Bruce Bickford's dreamy and psychedelic claymation.

Unfortunately the quality of this video is not the best but it will give you a good idea of what artists united can achieve. ( with or without mushrooms.)

Tim Burton Vincent

This is truly one of my favorite Tim Burton's animation movie. All the element that will be developed in later movies such as "Nightmare before Christmas" and "Corpse Bride" are already present. His dark humor is impeccable, very funny!

"cake"

This claymation short is a perfect example of how far technology and television are influencing young animators.

Only a few year back would have been impossible, even for a talented 14 years old such as JCclips, to produce such sophisticated work.

( click on the "cake" link from this page to see the movie.)
